Strategy

1What Hogger does

Hogger is a melee Bruiser in Heroes of the Storm. The kit brings crowd control (stun) with Staggering Blow and sustain with Loot Hoard. At level 10 you choose between the heroics Hoardapult and Shockwave.

2The basics

In this guide you play it as Bruiser: your job is to hold a side lane alone, take camps and add a second frontline in fights.

  • Soaking: stay in range of the minion waves to collect experience.
  • Camps: a mercenary camp in the right lane is pressure your team doesn't have to create.

3Common mistakes

Most new players lose games with the same few mistakes. Avoid these and you'll already be ahead:

  • Abandoning your lane for fights you can't reach.
  • Diving the enemy backline alone.
  • Ignoring mercenary camps.

4Your first games

Early, hold the solo lane: soak every wave, win trades when the enemy misses abilities and take mercenary camps when your lane is pushed. Use the simple build in this guide and don't worry about situational choices yet.

Tips

  • Soaking: stay in range of the minion waves to collect experience.
  • Camps: a mercenary camp in the right lane is pressure your team doesn't have to create.
  • Experience is shared by the whole team: being in lane to soak it matters as much as fighting.
  • Learn what Hoardapult and Shockwave do before your first game: you'll choose one at level 10.
