Roshan: when, with what, and what happens next
The Aegis is not the prize. The forty seconds after you take it are.
01Three questions before you walk in
Can you kill it fast enough that the enemy cannot arrive? Do you know where at least three of them are? And do you have a plan for the minute after? If any answer is no, you are not taking Roshan, you are donating five heroes in a pit with one exit.
02Who should carry it
The Aegis goes to whoever the enemy has to kill first and cannot afford to kill twice. Usually that is the hero that starts fights, not the one that finishes them. Giving it to a carry who was never going to be dived wastes it; giving it to the initiator buys a free engage.
03Spend it or lose it
The Aegis expires. A team that takes Roshan and then farms for five minutes has paid the risk and collected nothing. Take it, then immediately walk at a lane with everyone: the fight you get is the one you wanted, with an extra life in your pocket.
