The five rune trees and when each one is the right call

Precision, Domination, Sorcery, Resolve and Inspiration are not power levels. Each answers a different question about how you intend to win.

01Pick the tree that matches your damage pattern

Precision rewards hitting the same target repeatedly, so it belongs to champions whose damage is attacks over time. Domination rewards getting someone low fast, so it belongs to burst. Sorcery is the flexible middle for ability-based champions who need more than one trade to win. Resolve keeps you alive long enough for your team to arrive. Inspiration bends a rule instead of adding power.

02The secondary tree is where the matchup lives

Your primary tree follows your champion and barely changes. The secondary is where you answer the specific opponent in front of you: sustain against a poke lane, movement against something that wants to catch you, cooldowns against a lane you plan to sit on. Changing your secondary every game and your primary almost never is the normal rhythm.

03One honest warning

Runes decide far less than the things around them. A perfect page on a champion whose waves are in the wrong place loses to a mediocre page on someone standing in the right spot. Set them once, stop thinking about them, and spend that attention on the map.
