Uther Safe Play Guide

This guide is assembled by the site from match data and the game's own information — nobody wrote it by hand. Official and community guides appear alongside it when they exist.

Overview

This guide is about playing Uther safely and consistently. Safe healing means standing at the back, keeping mana for the fight and moving away as soon as a diver appears. The kit brings crowd control (stun) with Hammer of Justice and sustain with Holy Light.

Strengths

  • Heals itself, which keeps it in lane longer.
  • Heals allies: keeps the team in fights.
  • Brings utility that helps the whole team.

Weaknesses

  • Mana-hungry: Blizzard flags its energy as important, so manage it early.
  • No escape tools: vulnerable when divers reach it.
  • First target for the enemy dive.

Strategy

1Safe laning

Safe healing means standing at the back, keeping mana for the fight and moving away as soon as a diver appears. Let your laning partner trade and heal after, not during: a healer that runs out of mana early loses the objective.

2Surviving fights

Heal the teammate under pressure, not the one with the lowest bar, and keep Holy Light for burst moments. You have no escape in the kit, so your position is your defence: stay behind someone who can protect you.

3Positioning and peel

Stand where the enemy has to go through your team to reach you, and protect whoever the enemy focuses. Hold Hammer of Justice for the enemy diver.

4Playing from behind

When the game goes badly, farm what's safe, defend with your team and wait for the enemy to make a mistake: a single won fight can turn it around.

Tips

  • Save Hammer of Justice for whoever jumps on your team.
  • Keep Holy Light for the enemy's burst, not for chip damage.
  • Go back when your key abilities are down: a reset costs less than a death.
  • Never be the first to show on the map in the late game.
  • If enemies are missing from the map, back off before they appear.

Matchups

Weak against

  • Brightwing fights at range and Uther is melee with no dash in the kit to close the gap.

  • Anduin fights at range and Uther is melee with no dash in the kit to close the gap.

  • Malfurion fights at range and Uther is melee with no dash in the kit to close the gap.
