More Wukong guides
This guide is assembled by the site from match data and the game's own information — nobody wrote it by hand. Official and community guides appear alongside it when they exist.
Overview
This guide goes through Wukong's kit ability by ability. The kit brings crowd control (knock-up) with Cyclone, mobility with Warrior Trickster and sustain with Stone Skin. Its ultimate is Cyclone.
Strengths
- High physical damage: Riot rates it 8/10 in attack.
- Crowd control: Cyclone applies a knock-up to set up kills.
- Mobility: Warrior Trickster lets you reposition, engage or escape.
Weaknesses
- Falls behind if the early ganks fail: every wasted trip is lost farm.
- Predictable if you always play it the same way: adapt your build to the enemy team.
Build cheat sheet
Pick the build that fits what you want to do this game.
Builds
Standard build
When to use it
The default path: Black Cleaver, Trinity Force and Spear of Shojin give the health, attack damage and on-hit effects this class relies on. Pick it when you have no reason to adapt. Built from Riot's item tags and the champion's class; Riot publishes no build statistics.
Where it's played
Picked before the game: the main lane first, then the alternatives.

Strategy
1The kit
The kit brings crowd control (knock-up) with Cyclone, mobility with Warrior Trickster and sustain with Stone Skin.
- Stone Skin — Passive — heals. It works on its own: play around it.
- [Q] Crushing Blow — Basic ability. Part of your regular rotation.
- [W] Warrior Trickster — Basic ability — moves you, grants invisibility and hits an area. Keep it to escape unless the kill is certain.
- [E] Nimbus Strike — Basic ability — moves you. Keep it to escape unless the kill is certain.
- [R] Cyclone — Ultimate — applies a knock-up. Use it on the target your team can kill.
2Skill order
Put a point in Cyclone at levels 6, 11 and 16. Between the basic abilities, max first the one that does most for your lane — usually your main damage or wave clear — and keep the utility one for last.
3Combos
Without hard crowd control in the kit, your damage depends on positioning: land your abilities when the enemy is committed to something else.
4Using your ultimate
Cyclone is the ability the enemy plays around. Use it where it changes the fight, and remember its cooldown: after using it, you're a smaller threat for a while.
Tips
- Decoy and Nimbus Strike work well together to quickly strike your enemy and get out before they can retaliate.
- Try using Decoy near brush to make an enemy overreact to your movement.
- Land Cyclone first: every ability after it is easier to hit.
- Keep Warrior Trickster out of your combo unless the kill is certain.
- Use Stone Skin reactively, when the enemy commits.
Changelog
- Guide created for patch 16.19.1.
