Braum Abilities and Combos

Abilities & combosData-drivenEasyPatch 16.19.1

This guide is assembled by the site from match data and the game's own information — nobody wrote it by hand. Official and community guides appear alongside it when they exist.

Overview

This guide goes through Braum's kit ability by ability. The kit brings crowd control (stun) with Concussive Blows and mobility with Stand Behind Me. Its ultimate is Glacial Fissure.

Strengths

  • Crowd control: Concussive Blows applies a stun to set up kills.
  • Mobility: Stand Behind Me lets you reposition, engage or escape.
  • Very durable: Riot rates it 9/10 in defense.

Weaknesses

  • Low priority on gold and experience.
  • Predictable if you always play it the same way: adapt your build to the enemy team.

When to use it

The default path: Locket of the Iron Solari, Knight's Vow and Sunfire Aegis give the health, magic resist and armor this class relies on. Pick it when you have no reason to adapt. Built from Riot's item tags and the champion's class; Riot publishes no build statistics.

Where it's played

Abilities

  • Concussive BlowsPassiveBraum's basic attacks apply Concussive Blows. Once the first stack is applied, ally basic attacks also stack Concussive Blows. Upon reaching 4 stacks, the target is stunned and takes magic damage. For the next few seconds they cannot receive new stacks, but take bonus magic damage from Braum's attacks.Passive — applies a stun. It works on its own: play around it.

Strategy

1The kit

The kit brings crowd control (stun) with Concussive Blows and mobility with Stand Behind Me.

  • Concussive Blows — Passive — applies a stun. It works on its own: play around it.
  • [Q] Winter's Bite — Basic ability — slows and shields. Time it for the enemy's burst, not for chip damage.
  • [W] Stand Behind Me — Basic ability — moves you. Keep it to escape unless the kill is certain.
  • [E] Unbreakable — Basic ability — shields. Time it for the enemy's burst, not for chip damage.
  • [R] Glacial Fissure — Ultimate — slows. Plan your fights around its cooldown.

2Skill order

Put a point in Glacial Fissure at levels 6, 11 and 16. Between the basic abilities, max first the one that does most for your lane — usually your main damage or wave clear — and keep the utility one for last.

3Combos

A simple sequence that follows from the kit: open with Concussive Blows, follow with Winter's Bite and Stand Behind Me and finish with Glacial Fissure. The disable first means everything after it lands.

4Using your ultimate

Glacial Fissure is the ability the enemy plays around. Use it where it changes the fight, and remember its cooldown: after using it, you're a smaller threat for a while.

Tips

  • Work with your allies to stack Concussive Blows, encourage them to basic attack marked targets.
  • Leap in front of squishy friends and shield them from projectiles with Unbreakable.
  • Glacial Fissure leaves a powerful slow zone, position it well to split teamfights and slow the enemy approach.
  • Land Concussive Blows first: every ability after it is easier to hit.
  • Keep Stand Behind Me out of your combo unless the kill is certain.
