This guide is assembled by the site from match data and the game's own information — nobody wrote it by hand. Official and community guides appear alongside it when they exist.

Overview

This guide goes through Anub'arak's kit ability by ability. The kit brings crowd control (stun) with Impale, mobility with Burrow Charge and sustain with Locust Swarm. At level 10 you choose between the heroics Locust Swarm and Cocoon.

Strengths

  • Has escape tools, according to Blizzard's own hero tags.
  • Strong gank potential around the map.
  • Crowd control: Impale applies a stun.

Weaknesses

  • Mana-hungry: Blizzard flags its energy as important, so manage it early.
  • Low damage by itself: it needs its team to finish kills.

Strategy

1The kit

The kit brings crowd control (stun) with Impale, mobility with Burrow Charge and sustain with Locust Swarm.

  • [Q] Impale — Basic ability — applies a stun. Save it for priority targets or to interrupt a channel.
  • [W] Harden Carapace — Basic ability — shields. Time it for the enemy's burst, not for chip damage.
  • [E] Burrow Charge — Basic ability — applies a stun and moves you. Save it for priority targets or to interrupt a channel.
  • [R] Locust Swarm — Heroic — heals and hits an area. Time it for the enemy's burst, not for chip damage.
  • [R] Cocoon — Heroic — applies a disable. Use it on the target your team can kill.
  • [D] Scarab Host — Trait — hits an area and summons units. Part of your regular rotation.

2Abilities and levels

There are no skill points in Heroes of the Storm: all basic abilities are available from level 1 and grow with your level. What changes is the talents — see the talents guide.

3Combos

A simple sequence that follows from the kit: open with Impale, follow with Harden Carapace and Burrow Charge. The disable first means everything after it lands.

4Heroics

At level 10 you choose between Locust Swarm and Cocoon. Pick after seeing the enemy team: each solves a different problem.

  • Locust Swarm — Heroic — heals and hits an area. Time it for the enemy's burst, not for chip damage.
  • Cocoon — Heroic — applies a disable. Use it on the target your team can kill.

Tips

  • Land Impale first: every ability after it is easier to hit.
  • Keep Burrow Charge out of your combo unless the kill is certain.
  • Use Locust Swarm reactively, when the enemy commits.
  • Practise the combo in a practice game before using it in ranked.
