This guide is assembled by the site from match data and the game's own information — nobody wrote it by hand. Official and community guides appear alongside it when they exist.

Overview

This guide goes through Syndra's kit ability by ability. The kit brings crowd control (stun) with Scatter the Weak. Its ultimate is Unleashed Power.

Strengths

  • High magic damage: Riot rates it 9/10 in magic.
  • Crowd control: Scatter the Weak applies a stun to set up kills.
  • Long attack range (550) for safe trades in lane.

Weaknesses

  • Fragile: Riot rates it 3/10 in defense.
  • No dash or blink in the kit: vulnerable to ganks without vision.

When to use it

The default path: Cryptbloom, Archangel's Staff and Blackfire Torch give the ability power, magic penetration and ability haste this class relies on. Pick it when you have no reason to adapt. Built from Riot's item tags and the champion's class; Riot publishes no build statistics.

Where it's played

Picked before the game: the main lane first, then the alternatives.

Strategy

1The kit

The kit brings crowd control (stun) with Scatter the Weak.

  • Transcendent — Passive — slows. It works on its own: play around it.
  • [Q] Dark Sphere — Basic ability. Part of your regular rotation.
  • [W] Force of Will — Basic ability — slows. Part of your regular rotation.
  • [E] Scatter the Weak — Basic ability — applies a stun. Save it for priority targets or to interrupt a channel.
  • [R] Unleashed Power — Ultimate. Plan your fights around its cooldown.

2Skill order

Put a point in Unleashed Power at levels 6, 11 and 16. Between the basic abilities, max first the one that does most for your lane — usually your main damage or wave clear — and keep the utility one for last.

3Combos

A simple sequence that follows from the kit: open with Scatter the Weak, follow with Dark Sphere and Force of Will and finish with Unleashed Power. The disable first means everything after it lands.

4Using your ultimate

Unleashed Power is the ability the enemy plays around. Use it where it changes the fight, and remember its cooldown: after using it, you're a smaller threat for a while.

Tips

  • To maximize your ultimate's damage use it when there are many spheres on the battlefield.
  • After you hit an enemy champion with Force of Will follow up with Dark Sphere, they'll be slowed and have a hard time avoiding it.
  • Get one of your spells to rank 5 as quickly as possible, they gain powerful bonus effects at max rank.
  • Land Scatter the Weak first: every ability after it is easier to hit.
  • Watch Unleashed Power's cooldown: fights you take without it are much harder.
