Ogre Magi Abilities and Combos
More Ogre Magi guides
This guide is assembled by the site from match data and the game's own information — nobody wrote it by hand. Official and community guides appear alongside it when they exist.
Overview
This guide goes through Ogre Magi's kit ability by ability. The kit brings crowd control (stun) with Fireblast.
Strengths
- Reliable stun: Fireblast sets up kills and interrupts enemy channels.
- Keeps allies alive with Fire Shield.
- Heavy magical burst: Valve lists it as a Nuker.
Weaknesses
- No escape in the kit: without good positioning and vision, Ogre Magi is easy to catch.
- Melee: has to walk up to its target, which makes the lane harder against ranged heroes.

Strategy
1The kit
The kit brings crowd control (stun) with Fireblast.
- Fireblast — Basic ability — applies a stun. Save it for priority targets or to interrupt a channel.
- Ignite — Basic ability. Part of your regular rotation.
- Bloodlust — Basic ability. Part of your regular rotation.
- Unrefined Fireblast — Basic ability — applies a stun. Save it for priority targets or to interrupt a channel.
- Fire Shield — Basic ability — shields. Time it for the enemy's burst, not for chip damage.
- Dumb Luck — Passive. It works on its own: play around it.
- Multicast — Passive. It works on its own: play around it.
2Skill order
Take your ultimate at 6, 12 and 18.
3Combos
A simple sequence that follows from the kit: open with Fireblast, follow with Ignite and Bloodlust. The disable first means everything after it lands.
4Using your ultimate
Your ultimate decides fights.
Tips
- Land Fireblast first: every ability after it is easier to hit.
- Use Fire Shield reactively, when the enemy commits.
- Practise the combo in a practice game before using it in ranked.
- Count the enemy's key cooldowns: the best moment to use yours is right after they use theirs.
Changelog
- Guide created for patch 7.41.
