Quinn Guide

This guide is assembled by the site from match data and the game's own information — nobody wrote it by hand. Official and community guides appear alongside it when they exist.

Overview

Quinn belongs to Riot's Marksman and Assassin classes and is played mainly as Top (100% of the public matches we measured). It attacks from range (525 units) and uses mana. In this guide you play it as Top: your job is to win a long one-on-one lane, pressure the side and matter in team fights. The kit brings mobility with Vault. Its ultimate is Behind Enemy Lines. Riot rates it 9/10 in attack, 2/10 in magic, 4/10 in defense and 5/10 in difficulty.

Strengths

  • High physical damage: Riot rates it 9/10 in attack.
  • Mobility: Vault lets you reposition, engage or escape.
  • Behind Enemy Lines hits several enemies: a strong team fight tool.
  • Long attack range (525) for safe trades in lane.

Weaknesses

  • Isolated lane: vulnerable to ganks when you push.
  • Predictable if you always play it the same way: adapt your build to the enemy team.

When to use it

The default path: Stormrazor, Yun Tal Wildarrows and Blade of The Ruined King give the attack damage, critical strike and attack speed this class relies on. Pick it when you have no reason to adapt. Built from Riot's item tags and the champion's class; Riot publishes no build statistics.

Strategy

1Early game

Top is an island: few ganks, long trades and a lot of wave management. Freeze the wave near your tower when you're weaker and push it when you want to roam or recall. Short trades win lanes: hit, use one ability and step back before the enemy's full combo comes back.

  • Early items: B. F. Sword and Cloak of Agility.

2Mid game

With Stormrazor and Yun Tal Wildarrows, split push the side lane the enemy can't match and use Teleport to join fights around dragons and towers. Your spikes are level 6, when Behind Enemy Lines comes online, and each completed item: Stormrazor first, then Yun Tal Wildarrows.

  • Core items: Stormrazor, Yun Tal Wildarrows and Blade of The Ruined King.

3Late game

Late, decide early whether you split or group: a strong side lane draws two enemies, but a missing top laner loses the Baron fight.

  • Late items: Death's Dance and Mercurial Scimitar.

4Team fights

In fights, reach the enemy backline or protect your own, depending on who can hurt your team more. Use Behind Enemy Lines where it hits the most enemies or catches the key target.

5Playing against Quinn

Riot's own advice for facing this champion:

  • After being marked, move away from Quinn so she can't take advantage of it.
  • Keep tabs on Quinn's position. Behind Enemy Lines can enable Valor to cross the map very quickly and attack you by surprise.
  • When Quinn is using Behind Enemy Lines, damaging her removes her Move Speed bonus temporarily.

Tips

  • Attacking a
  • Vulnerable
  • target marked by Valor will put Harrier on cooldown. Quickly consuming Harrier marks will allow you to generate them faster.
  • Rush Stormrazor: it's the item that changes your trades the most.
  • Track the enemy jungler before you push past the middle of the lane.
  • When your wave is crashing into the enemy tower, that's your window to recall or roam.

Matchups

Strong against

  • Quinn attacks from 525 units and Ambessa from 125: every trade in lane happens at a distance they cannot answer.

  • Quinn attacks from 525 units and Camille from 125: every trade in lane happens at a distance they cannot answer.

  • Quinn attacks from 525 units and Cho'Gath from 125: every trade in lane happens at a distance they cannot answer.

Weak against

  • Body Slam (stun) lets Gragas pin Quinn down before Vault gets them out.

  • Facebreaker (stun) lets Sett pin Quinn down before Vault gets them out.

  • Ki Burst (stun) lets Riven pin Quinn down before Vault gets them out.

Works well with

  • Last Embrace from Senna holds enemies in place for Behind Enemy Lines from Quinn.

  • Bola Strike from Rengar holds enemies in place for Behind Enemy Lines from Quinn.

  • Frenzying Taunt from Rammus holds enemies in place for Behind Enemy Lines from Quinn.
