This guide goes through Riven's kit ability by ability. The kit brings crowd control (stun) with Ki Burst. Its ultimate is Blade of the Exile.

Estratégia

1The kit

The kit brings crowd control (stun) with Ki Burst.

  • Runic Blade — Passive. It works on its own: play around it.
  • [Q] Broken Wings — Basic ability — hits an area. Part of your regular rotation.
  • [W] Ki Burst — Basic ability — applies a stun and hits an area. Save it for priority targets or to interrupt a channel.
  • [E] Valor — Basic ability. Part of your regular rotation.
  • [R] Blade of the Exile — Ultimate. Plan your fights around its cooldown.

2Skill order

Put a point in Blade of the Exile at levels 6, 11 and 16. Between the basic abilities, max first the one that does most for your lane — usually your main damage or wave clear — and keep the utility one for last.

3Combos

A simple sequence that follows from the kit: open with Ki Burst, follow with Broken Wings and Valor and finish with Blade of the Exile. The disable first means everything after it lands.

4Using your ultimate

Blade of the Exile is the ability the enemy plays around. Use it where it changes the fight, and remember its cooldown: after using it, you're a smaller threat for a while.

Dicas

  • Riven's Broken Wings locks onto the champion your cursor is over at the time of cast. If you want to move past your opponent, make sure that your cursor is past your opponent as well.
  • Riven lacks a source of healing or strong defense and must compensate with burst combos. Lead into fights with Broken Wings and Ki Burst, while using Valor to escape and absorb counter-harass.
  • Land Ki Burst first: every ability after it is easier to hit.
  • Watch Blade of the Exile's cooldown: fights you take without it are much harder.
