This guide is assembled by the site from match data and the game's own information — nobody wrote it by hand. Official and community guides appear alongside it when they exist.
Overview
Sivir belongs to Riot's Marksman class and is played mainly as ADC (100% of the public matches we measured). It attacks from range (500 units) and uses mana. In this guide you play it as ADC: your job is to farm safely, deal sustained damage and take down towers. Its ultimate is On The Hunt. Riot rates it 9/10 in attack, 1/10 in magic, 3/10 in defense and 4/10 in difficulty.
Strengths
- High physical damage: Riot rates it 9/10 in attack.
- Sustain from Spell Shield.
- Long attack range (500) for safe trades in lane.
Weaknesses
- Fragile: Riot rates it 3/10 in defense.
- No dash or blink in the kit: vulnerable to ganks without vision.
- Relies on the team's peel in fights.
Build cheat sheet
Pick the build that fits what you want to do this game.
- Standard buildBalancedRecommendedThe default path: Stormrazor, Yun Tal Wildarrows and Blade of The Ruined King give the attack damage, critical strike and attack speed this class relies on. Pick it when you have no reason to adapt. Built from Riot's item tags and the champion's class; Riot publishes no build statistics.
- Crit buildOffensiveAdvancedAll-in on damage: Lord Dominik's Regards, The Collector and Infinity Edge stack attack damage, critical strike and armor penetration. Choose it when you're ahead or the enemy team is fragile — it gives up safety for kill pressure.
- Defensive buildDefensiveSituationalKeeps enough damage while adding magic resist, attack damage and life steal through Mercurial Scimitar, Maw of Malmortius and Bandlepipes. Choose it against dive, assassins or a lane you can't win.

Strategy
1Early game
Bot is a two-on-two: your support decides a lot of the lane. Last hit, trade when your support engages and track the enemy jungler for dragon. Auto-attack the enemy when they walk up to last hit, and step back behind your minions as soon as they answer.
- Early items: B. F. Sword and Cloak of Agility.
2Mid game
With Stormrazor and Yun Tal Wildarrows, group for dragons and towers and take the towers your team opens. Farm the side waves when nothing is happening. Your spikes are level 6, when On The Hunt comes online, and each completed item: Stormrazor first, then Yun Tal Wildarrows.
- Core items: Stormrazor, Yun Tal Wildarrows and Blade of The Ruined King.
3Late game
Late, you are the main source of damage: stay with your team, never face-check and hit the closest safe target.
- Late items: Death's Dance and Mercurial Scimitar.
4Team fights
Hit the closest target you can hit safely, not the one you want: a marksman that stays alive wins the fight. Use On The Hunt where it hits the most enemies or catches the key target.
5Playing against Sivir
Riot's own advice for facing this champion:
- Boomerang Blade costs a lot of mana to cast, so dodging it sets Sivir back. If it hits you on the way out, avoid its path on the way back.
- Sivir is a powerful pushing champion, so leaving her unattended in a lane for too long will often result in your turrets being destroyed.
- When laning against Sivir, it is possible to throw off the timing of her Spell Shield by faking an advance, then backing off.
Tips
- Sivir's Boomerang Blade returns to her after reaching the max range, so you can shift position to hit enemies who would otherwise have evaded it.
- Ricochet resets Sivir's basic attack timer on activation, so activating this immediately after landing a normal basic attack will maximize damage output.
- Try saving Spell Shield for enemy abilities that can disable you such as stuns and roots.
- Your first spike is Stormrazor, and Yun Tal Wildarrows makes you a real threat: fight around those purchases.
- Take towers whenever the enemy shows on the other side of the map: they are your team's gold.
- Position so that the enemy has to go through your frontline to reach you.
Matchups
Strong against
Sivir attacks from 500 units and Nilah from 225: every trade in lane happens at a distance they cannot answer.
Sivir attacks from 500 units and Olaf from 125, with no dash in the kit to close the gap.
Sivir attacks from 500 units and Garen from 175, with no dash in the kit to close the gap.
Weak against
Arcane Shift lets Ezreal reach Sivir, who has no escape in the kit.
Fate's Call lets Kalista reach Sivir, who has no escape in the kit.
Wild Rush lets Samira reach Sivir, who has no escape in the kit.
Works well with
Black Shield from Morgana keeps Sivir alive, and Sivir is the damage the team needs to protect.
You and Me! from Yuumi keeps Sivir alive, and Sivir is the damage the team needs to protect.
Gleaming Quill from Rakan keeps Sivir alive, and Sivir is the damage the team needs to protect.
