Overview

Lunara is a ranged Ranged Assassin in Heroes of the Storm. In this guide you play it as Ranged Assassin: your job is to deal consistent damage from range and clear waves. The kit brings mobility with Leaping Strike. At level 10 you choose between the heroics Thornwood Vine and Leaping Strike.

Strengths

  • Good wave clear, according to Blizzard's own hero tags.
  • Has escape tools, according to Blizzard's own hero tags.
  • Clear job in the team: deal consistent damage from range and clear waves.

Weaknesses

  • Mana-hungry: Blizzard flags its energy as important, so manage it early.
  • Relies on basic attacks: blinds and armor hurt its damage.

Strategy

1Early game

Early, soak experience, clear waves quickly and poke the enemy from a safe distance. Don't trade health you can't get back. Trade at the edge of your range, and walk away as soon as the enemy starts to close the gap.

  • Early talents: Hippity Hop and Nature's Culling.

2Mid game

At level 10, Thornwood Vine or Leaping Strike becomes your fight-winning tool. Stay behind your frontline and deal damage without being reached.

  • Heroics: Thornwood Vine and Leaping Strike.

3Late game

Late, you're a priority target: keep your distance, respect the enemy's heroics and never walk ahead of your tank.

  • Level 20: Intensifying Toxin.

4Team fights

Hit the closest target you can reach safely and keep Leaping Strike for the enemy dive.

Tips

  • Keep Leaping Strike for when the enemy dives you, not to chase.
  • Choose between Thornwood Vine and Leaping Strike depending on the enemy team.
  • Arrive at map objectives and mercenary camps before they start: the team that is there first chooses the fight.
  • Keep Leaping Strike for getting out, not for chasing.

Matchups

Strong against

  • Blizzard classifies Valeera as a Melee Assassin, and they have to close the gap before they can do anything to Lunara, who fights at range.

  • Blizzard classifies Zeratul as a Melee Assassin, and they have to close the gap before they can do anything to Lunara, who fights at range.

  • Blizzard classifies Alarak as a Melee Assassin, and they have to close the gap before they can do anything to Lunara, who fights at range.

Weak against

  • Penetrating Round (knock-up) lets Raynor pin Lunara down before Leaping Strike gets them out.

  • Ring of Frost (root) lets Jaina pin Lunara down before Leaping Strike gets them out.

  • Black Hole (stun) lets Tassadar pin Lunara down before Leaping Strike gets them out.

Works well with

  • Sleep Dart from Ana holds enemies in place for Thornwood Vine from Lunara.

  • Healing Brew from Li Li keeps Lunara alive, and Lunara is the damage the team needs to protect.

  • Chastise from Anduin holds enemies in place for Thornwood Vine from Lunara.
