Strategy

1Early talents

The first three talent tiers (levels 1, 4 and 7) set up how you soak and trade. The early build below leans on survivability to win that phase.

  • Picks: Raven's Intellect and Mage Armor.

2Trading

Let your teammates trade and use your utility to punish the enemy's answer. The kit brings crowd control (silence) with Poly Bomb, mobility with Portal and sustain with Force of Will.

3Soaking and rotations

Soaking is the laning phase: stay in range of your minion waves, rotate between lanes so none is left empty and group before each objective spawns.

4Early objectives

Early, help your team win the first map objectives and mercenary camps. Your big moments are level 10, when you pick Poly Bomb or Ley Line Seal, and level 20, when the heroic gets its upgrade.

Tips

  • Let your teammates trade and use your utility to punish the enemy's answer.
  • Raven's Intellect is your first purchase that changes the lane: get it early.
  • Use Poly Bomb in lane only when your partner or jungler can follow.
  • Keep Portal ready when the enemy's gankers are missing.
  • Early, help your team win the first map objectives and mercenary camps.

Matchups

Strong against

  • Blizzard classifies Maiev as a Melee Assassin, and they have to close the gap before they can do anything to Medivh, who fights at range.

  • Blizzard classifies Murky as a Melee Assassin, and they have to close the gap before they can do anything to Medivh, who fights at range.

  • Blizzard classifies Qhira as a Melee Assassin, and they have to close the gap before they can do anything to Medivh, who fights at range.

Weak against

  • Bunny Hop (stun) lets D.Va pin Medivh down before Portal gets them out.

  • Bone Prison (root) lets Xul pin Medivh down before Portal gets them out.

  • Impale (stun) lets Anub'arak pin Medivh down before Portal gets them out.
