Overview
Uther is a durable melee healer. Holy Light is a large single-target heal that also heals him, Holy Radiance heals allies and damages enemies in a line, and Hammer of Justice stuns the target for a moment. His trait, Devotion, gives armour to every ally he heals, so his healing is worth more than the number on screen. When he dies, he becomes a spirit for a few seconds and can keep healing — Eternal Vanguard. At level 10, Divine Shield makes an ally invulnerable and is one of the strongest saves in the game, while Divine Storm is an area stun for engages. He plays closer to the fight than other healers, which is both his strength and his risk.
Strengths
- Big burst heals with Holy Light.
- Devotion's armour makes every heal worth more.
- Divine Shield cancels the enemy's focus completely.
- A stun of his own to peel divers.
Weaknesses
- Mana-hungry: Holy Light is expensive.
- Melee range: he is exposed to poke and area damage.
- Little healing over time between fights.

Strategy
1Early game: levels 1–9
Stay with your laner and basic-attack minions and heroes to complete Hammer of the Lightbringer, which gives you mana on every attack. Heal with Holy Light only when a trade has gone wrong; Holy Radiance is cheaper for small amounts. At the first objective, stand close enough to stun a diver but behind your tank.
2Mid game: levels 10–16
Divine Shield turns every enemy dive into wasted cooldowns. Keep it for the ally the enemy has chosen to kill, usually your carry or your tank in the middle of their team. Stay close to your frontline so Hammer of Justice can peel and Holy Light can reach.
3Late game: levels 16–20
Benediction makes your next basic ability much cheaper and brings it back sooner, which means a second Holy Light or Hammer of Justice in the decisive moment. Redemption at level 20 means your death is not the end of the fight: you revive after Eternal Vanguard, so take risks to save the right ally.
4Teamfights
Watch for the enemy's engage, stun the diver, Divine Shield the target and heal the rest with Holy Light and Holy Radiance. Uther wins fights by denying kills, not by healing the most.
Tips
- Basic-attack between heals to complete Hammer of the Lightbringer and refill mana.
- Hammer of Justice the diver, not the tank.
- Divine Shield before the burst lands, not after the ally is already dead.
- Holy Radiance through allies and enemies at once for value on both.
- After dying, keep healing as a spirit: Eternal Vanguard still counts.
Matchups
Strong against
Divine Shield wastes her whole combo, and Hammer of Justice stops the follow-up.
A burst assassin who needs one target to die; Divine Shield denies it.
Weak against
Biotic Grenade blocks Holy Light at the worst moment.
Long-range poke hits a melee healer who has to stand close to the fight.
